120 years of Schooling for Girls in Taiping, Perak

TREACHER METHODIST GIRLS' SCHOOL, TAIPING, PERAK celebrates 120th Anniversary with a Thanksgiving Service in the School Hall on 14th March 2009. It was organized by the School Board of Governors.
The school first started in1889 when the Perak Government organized a Girls' School with 8 girls. In 1899, facing serious difficulties, the school was handed over to the Methodist Mission. The school is named in honour of Mrs William Treacher, wife of the British Resident then, who had taken an interest in the school. TMGS now has more than 800 girls.
